Alan Ray has done it again !! Leading a ride to The Darnum Musical Village Sunday the 23/5/2010. A group of 18 or more bikes from the Two Bays met at Baxter to ride to Darnum to visit the Darnum Music Village. This ride was organized by Alan some time ago and after the last one which was to the Light Horse & Field Artillery Museum a lot of us were very keen to ride with him and enjoy the day's outing. Leaving Baxter at 9/30 AM we rode on good roads, blue skies and the air quite cold and except for getting caught up with some push bike riders, the ride was very nice. We stopped in Drouin for a short break and a bit of refreshment. And then we were off to Darnum, and the Darnum Music Village, which is run by Albert H Fox, a wonderful chap who knows everything about the musical instruments especially the pianos and organs He was a piano tuner by trade and was in the travelling show business. We were greeted by Albert who showed us around the entrance of the museum and how all the pianos and organs were made and played. By playing some of them a little bit, then he took us out side to the other buildings to see all the pianos and organs that they have, which are being restored back to working order and as much like new as possible. After he showed us the work shop and a little of how the work is done we then went back to the entrance of the museum and had our lunch of soup, sandwiches and coffee or tea. After lunch Albert explained some more about the museum and played and sang for us, and then Susie sang a number of songs, which was very nice. A number of us followed Alan back to Tooradin for a short stop before heading off to our homes. Thank you ALAN for a nice ride and a wonderful and informative day out From Betty and Doug.
