What a weekend!  Thirteen bikes, seven pillions and two in a tin top left Baxter 8.30am on Saturday for Maldon.  We picked up three more bikes and two pillions at Todd Rd. headed towards Gisborne for morning tea and pit stop.  We ambled along to Maldon, sighting along the way some of the aftermath of the recent fires in the Daylesford area.  When we arrived at our destination for the night, Fay and Karen who made there way there separately joined us.

After unpacking and refreshing ourselves some wandered into town and some drove for lunch and a look around the historic town.  Then some wandered back some drove back and some were taxied back for early refreshments before we repeated it again back into town for dinner.  After an enjoyable meal, some strolled and some drove to another establishment for some live entertainment and exercise on the dance floor.

Early next morning the process was repeated once again for breakfast. After breakfast, we went and boarded the steam train for the ride to Castlemaine.  Having the carriage to ourselves made it relaxing and fun to stagger through to various points of observation including the “little deck out the back”.  Standing out there, one could almost imagine the outlaws riding along side to rape pillage and plunder the train and passengers.

On the trip to Castlemaine the Conductor asked if anyone would be interested in riding in the locomotive with driver and stoker and much to our surprise!! John Fitton jumped at the opportunity.

Upon our return, we made our various ways back to the cabins and prepared for the trip home.  At Gisborne, we had a stop for refreshments etc said our goodbyes and headed for home.

A big thank you to Ron Olsson for once again organising a very enjoyable weekend.
