20 riders and 2 pillions assembled at Baxter today for our ride to Marysville, which took us through the Dandenongs to Yarra Junction for morning tea break. Then through Warburton, Reefton and towards Lake Mountain to Marysville, where we had lunch at the Marysville Bakery. It was good to see Marysville getting back on the move. Leaving Marysville, we went through to Narbethong, down the Black Spur with another stop at Healesville for petrol, then on a lovely ride through Wandin, Monbulk, Seville in the Dandenongs to Lyndhurst for our goodbyes. Today's ride had a lot in it, lots of bends, rain, fog, even snow on the side of the road. A great time was had by all, it was a very easy and pleasant ride, special thanks to our ride leader Peter Baulch and our tail end Charlie Mick Ferran. Pat & Alan Hipworth
Thank you Peter: for leading the ride to Marysville. The day started off great with 20 bikes turning up in Baxter and the weather looking good a little cool but OK. We rode off going on roads that Betty and I had not been on before but found them very interesting. We stopped in Launching Place for a morning tea break and a stretch of the legs. Then it was off up the Reefton Spur and the weather changed we had fine drizzly rain snow on the sides of the roads and then into fog. Every one road carefully and we all arrived in Marysville safe and sound where we stopped for our lunch break and another rest. Peter and I rode up the road to have a look at Bruno’s Sculptures which were all burnt in the bush fires, with the thought of us all having a look at the devastation, however while we were having our lunch the rain set in so that put a stop to our site seeing. So off we went riding in the rain, this time going through the Black Spur stopping in Healesville only for a few to get petrol, and then on again by this time the rain had stopped and the roads were dry. The next stop was Mc Donald on the corner of Thompson Road. From there we went our own way home. Maybe it was not the ride that we would look for weather wise, but as you once told me it is good to ride in all types of weather, and conditions, so this was a good experience. Thanks again Peter, Regards Betty and Doug Lutz.
