Sunday 11 April 2010 – Marysville Ride Five intrepid riders decided to brave the elements and departed Baxter bound for Marysville on a cold, wet & very windy morning. For the first time ever the Cruisers outnumbered the tourers with Trevor Roberts & yours truly being ably led by Alan Hipworth on his tourer. Joining us on the adventure was an eager Brian Burling on his BM funny bike and new Ulyssian and hopefully new Two Bays member, Dennis Hooper on his Motto Guzzi funny bike, (well they’re not cruisers are they). We left Baxter and made our way through sleet & wind to Pakenham via five ways & a couple of detours. Onto Cockatoo very carefully for there was a lot of bush rubbish on the roads and ended up at Yarra Junction where we enjoyed a stop at the local ‘unisex toilets’. At least we think they were unisex, well for the point of the exercise they were unisex for about 5 mins. After consultation with all riders it was deemed to dangerous to continue to Marysville, so our fearless leader took us back to Woori Yallock for some much needed hot coffee & Hot pies, (chilli pie Yum Yum). All warmed up and ready to go again Alan led us to Cockatoo, Narre Warren, Hallam and finishing up at Thomson Rd McDonalds for an ice cream. We said our goodbyes and all made our way to our respective places of residence at around 1.30ish. Many thanks Alan for an all seasons but enjoyable ride, thanks to Brian for Tail end Charlie. Next time we will get to Marysville, (itching to ride the Black Spur). Regards, A very cold Secretary who is enjoying a beer whilst writing this report.
