Sunday 8 35 AM we arrived at the Baxter
Coffee Shop to go on the Memorial Ride to the Cross at the
top of Mount Macedon.
Alan Rae and a few others were already
there.
Buy 9 PM there was 8 bikes and 2
pillions, we started off with our ride leader Alan up front
and Chris as tail end Charlie, everything went well until we
were riding on the beach road, and then we had to detour
which was a big pain in the neck.
We finished up all the way back to
the Nepean HW, from there it was up through St Kilda around
the lake up over the bridge and on the to the first stop at
the servo just past the Calder race track, this was a small
stop as by this time we were behind schedule.
The ride from there was good and we
arrived on time at the top of the mountain, parked the bikes
took some photos and walked up to the Cross, were the
ceremony took place which was very nice and the views are
terrific from up there.
After this it was off to Woodend were we
stopped for our lunch after that we headed off again, this
time we had to ride on an unmade road which no one was happy
about, however we all came out OK and road on, stopping on
the side of the road for a rest on to let some people get
off there bums. At the spot where the planes flew over head,
from there it was a straight run back to the servo on the
corner of Thompson Road
and all had an Ice Cream and sat for
a while and then left for home.
The detours the hold ups with the
road works and traffic hold ups because of them and the
heat made it that way, but this is something you can't
do any thing about.
A good ride not so long but quite a
hard one, everyone enjoyed it but they were very tired.
Thanks Alan for leading this
one...Doug.
