Many thanks to all members for attending this memorial ride to
honour the passing of our good friend Mick Ferran.
35 bikes with 9 pillions, and 3 more riding in a cage (with the all
important card table)
47 people playing 53 hands of poker, as some people felt lucky by
getting 2 cards.
Special thanks to the Del Bake cafe for once again opening extra
early to accommodate our group.
We all picked our 1st card and fired up the bikes to assemble at the
cark park entrance where we were waved of by Liz Ferran.
Leaving Baxter we made our way to our 1st stop in Hastings where we
met up with the Mornington Wanderers and the Shearwater group.
Shearwater put on the great spread for breakfast, and we wish to
thank all the people that made it all run so smoothly.
We all picked our 2nd card, with yours truly trying to stop the
cards from blowing away.
After a hearty breakfast and lots of coffee we fired up the bikes
and made our way through some nice sweepers to our next meeting
point in Flinders.
Our 3rd card was dealt over looking the sea at the top of the cliff,
with my son James making sure that no cards made their way over the
edge, as he did not want to go retrieve them!
With the card table folded away we then proceeded to our 4th card to
be dealt way over at Arthurs Seat, along some of the nicest
countryside on the Peninsular. The 4th card was a rushed affair as
we had to be at the final stop in 15mins and Alan Rae did a great
job in marshalling everyone to the card table.
Our last stop was at one of our Sponsors "The Jetty Cafe" in
Rosebud. We arrived on the stroke of midday being led in by our ride
leader Alan Rae, and bringing up the rear was Chris Dyball (I think)
Things were very interesting on the poker front with lots of people
sitting on pairs, but no real developing hands.
I knew I had 2 Aces in the Bank, but felt sure that would be NO
GOOD.
As I do not know how to score poker it was left to Alan Rae & Chris
to make sense of it all.
The results were: $25.00 for the worst hand went to 'MINA' (this
must have been a hard call as most people had nothing) $240.00 for
the best hand went to 'English Al'
YES I KNOW WHAT YOU ARE ALL THINKING (NO WAY & AND WHEN ARE HIS
PARENTS GETTING MARRIED)
The next poker run we have I will just score, because if I win again
I feel that a lynch mob will be formed.
Many thanks to all the members that could make it such a great day,
and our thoughts are with Liz Ferran at this time.
Check out the in-ride photos courtesy of my son James riding
pillion.
MAKE THIS A DATE IN YOUR DIARIES FOR NEXT YEAR!
Many Regards.
English Al.

Dandenong Hastings Rd and rode on through to Hastings to
Pelican Point were Shearwaters were getting the B B Q ready.
There was a lot of the Shearwaters members and also members from the
Vietnam Returned Members.
While the food was being prepared we all picked another card which
was marked off on our slip by English Al.
After a Terrific Brekkie and a talk with other members we rode off,
this time to the look out at Flinders were we all picked another

card marked off.
From Arthurs Seat it was off down Browns Rd and Jetty Rd to the
