DESTINATION: AUSTRALIAN LIGHT HORSE MILITARY MUSEUM DATE: 14/3/2010 RIDE LEADER: ALAN RAE TAIL END CHARLIE: MARK BEDFORD On a beautiful Sunday morning 39 members & friends on / in 28 bikes & 2 cars set off on a short enjoyable ride to the Australian Light Horse Military Museum at Nar Nar Goon. We arrived at the Museum around 10.30 & were greeted by Bernie, our host, in full Light Horse uniform. Bernie & family provided a morning tea for us inside the museum. After morning tea we were given a personal tour of the marvellous museum by Bernie. The exhibits & Bernie’s personal knowledge was fantastic. After about a one & a half tour we were treated to a tasty sausage sizzle coffee & cold drinks. Thanks to Alan, Paul & the other helpers for the sizzle & to Kevin & Marion Moore for providing the soft drinks. Our return trip to the Thompson’s road servo via Berwick was enjoyable. After ice creams (thanks Alan) a natter we returned home after a most enjoyable & different ride. Thanks to all for your company & a safe ride & especially to Alan & Mark for their efforts.
Chris Dyball *********************** Wow!!! What a great day it turned out to be. A day to remember, with 30 bikes turning up at the Baxter Coffee Shop for the ride to Nar Nar Goon to see the Light Horse & Field Artillery Museum With Alan Rae the ride leader. We like every one else just couldn't believe our eye's, Bikes everywhere, Ulysses Members and some others all standing and talking to one another. It just shows what a great Club Two Bays is. The weather was terrific blue sky's and a nice sun, Alan led off at 9-30 am after telling every one where we were going and that we would be using corner marks, how they worked and what to do if you were to be one. We rode on up through Pearcedale and on to the South Gippsland Hwy, on through Tooradin and onto Nar Nar Goon, where we went straight on until we got to Bessie Creek Road and then on to the Museum. We parked our bikes and were greeted by Bernie who Alan introduced. Then we all had Morning Tea and a Biscuit supplied, before Bernie took us into the Museum to tell us all about the War and some of the things that happened in those terrible times. Bernie was wonderful as he talked and explained everything for over an hour and still every one there was listening and watching everything. After that we all had a sausage and onions which Alan had ready with the help of a few others. Then there was some home made fruit cake which Betty had made the night before and again Bernie his wife and daughter-in-law again had prepared drinks for us. Well Alan what with 30 bikes, pillions 2 more bikes at the museum and a few cars it was a Great Day out. The ride was very enjoyable. Congratulations Alan. Betty and Doug
