Thanks to Ron Olsson for organising a terrific ride in great weather to Marysville. (Over 20 riders and pillions)
Unfortunately, our newest member Dennis Hooper
was cleaned up by an out of control Harley. (Tractors just don't go
around corners at high speed)
Dennis has a smashed ankle/heel bone, and his
MotoGuzzi 1100 is a lot worse for wear.
But the trusty Two Bays members soon had him
comfortable, ambo's and police called, his bike moved to a safe
position, traffic cleared, most of our riders on their way and a
rescue trailer on the way for the bike.
Thanks to Alan Lindley, Gary Hipwell, the
Bartons, Chris Dyball and Peter Baulch for taking control of a
chaotic situation and getting the best and safest outcome for all
concerned.
Dennis Hooper is now in the Maroondah Medical
Centre awaiting surgery on his smashed heel and ankle. His wife Gina
will keep us posted on his progress, and she has thanked all
concerned for ensuring Dennis was well cared for immediately after
the collision.
A nice fresh morning for a good ride, just what we ordered. 21
bikes 6 lady pillions a great turn out, also a few new riders, hot
coffee to start us all off. Heading towards Marysville we had a bike go down due to "boy racer" on a Harley trying to corner and who went too wide and hit our new member Dennis Hooper. Alan rang for the ambulance and police. Bill Barton rang Chris to bring the trailer up to bring home the damaged bike. Peter and Gary stayed behind with them. Once again Bill and Chris well done and thanks.
We continued onto Marysville had lunch at the bakery where two members
couldn't get their vanilla slices down quick enough, not bad Doug &
Betty. Thanks Alan for being tailend charlie we all know he loves it!! But it gives him too much time to think. Thanks to you all for coming on our ride, radios worked very well. Hope Dennis is OK we will put information on the web when we know more. Thanks Ron & Geraldine.
Sunday the 16th of May 2010, 21 riders from the
Two Bays Ulysses met at the Baxter Coffee Shop to ride to Marysville led
by Ron Olsson. We stopped at Warburton for morning tea and a short break, and then off to Marysville byway of the Reefton Spur. On the way one of our riders, a new member, Dennis, had a rider from another group coming from the opposite direction cut across the road and knocked him off his bike, all those behind stopped to help, after a while those who could not do anything to help him rode on to Marysville leaving the others to look after him. We all stopped at the bakery in Marysville and
had a good lunch and a break. Then we rode back through the
Blackspur finishing up at the Coffee shop in Baxter where we said our
good bye's.
