President's Ride Report AGM
Penrith.
We all had a great time up at
Penrith.
I rode up by myself, because Ron's
way around was tooooooo much around for my poor scooter. I
went via Lake Entrance, Batemans Bay, Kangaroo Valley,
Mittagong, then to Sydney, where I stayed with some friends
till the Monday morning. On Monday I went to Register
for the AGM and then went to our tent. Tent City was very
nice. Margot Jessop and I shared the tent. They were big two
man tents with two stretchers in it. Half off our
group stayed at the Penrith Hotel, Margot and I in Tent
City, and then there was Malie &Jack, Glenda & Robin, Rick
Marr, Brian Evans and Ian on another oval with their own
tent. The first thing I did was to put our banner on
the tent. The first thing I did was to put our banner on the
tent.
The first day was a rest
day. Had a BBQ at Peter Baulch's friends place. Very
nice. Ron wanted to throw me in the pool to Baptize the new
President. No luck.
Day two: the boy's
went to Hunter Valley, but I had been there before, so I
went into the Blue Mountain's by myself. Absolute beautiful.
Saw some waterfalls in Wentworth and Katoomba, and also the
three Sisters. Met up with more Ulysses Members there too.
Very nice day. I went every night around 5pm to the
Hotel were the others were staying. Had to make sure they
behaved themselves. And they did (at least when I was
around) . One night they had a few beers, and give
Peter Lees a few beers and he sleeps like a rock. So I
believe. Peter Baulch had a funny idea, and shaved Peter
Lees leg. Peter didn't even wake up. I would have liked to
see his face the next morning.
Later that night I went to visit
the others in the camp and had a very big accident.
Tripped over a tent rope. And would you believe, Brian Evans
was laughing his head off, while I was laying there just
about unconscious. Didn't help me up. What a
Gentlemen.Day Three
we all went for a lovely ride to Lithgow and the Zig Zag
train. That was great. Met up with Kevin Paige and his
friend Tom.
Day four Margot and I went
on a river cruise on a Paddle Steamer. That was absolute
fantastic. Had lunch on board. Then Margot and I and a few
more people went in a little speed boat to go further up the
river. Had a game of pool with George and Jim at the hotel
that night. Just a warning, don't ever play pool with
George. Hi is goooooood. He just talk's the balls into the
pockets.
Day five was bike testing.
While the others went on the the Spider, I went on a 500cc
three wheeler scooter. Ok, but I wouldn't pay $14,000.00 for
it.
At 12pm I went to the Meeting.
The next morning was the big
Parade. A bit early, because we had to line up between
6-8am. In the afternoon they had a kind of a market in the
main street and lots off entertainment. Next day was the
trip home. I had an invitation to stay with a couple from
the Ulysses Eurobodalla Branch in Batemans Bay, but I wanted
to go a different way home via Canberra and Cooma. I stayed
overnight at Cooma and met up with more Ulysses Members.
Went home the next day with a group from Gippsland branch
and Leongatha.
This was a trip
worthwhile............President Tiny
