Sunday Jan 15th Ride.
Today, seven Two Bay members and Scott ( future member ) had a most enjoyable day out.
Led by Peter B and Alf kindly taking on TEC duties, we departed Baxter soon after 9.30.
The "we" consisted of Bob ( new Suzy ) Ian ( Trumpy ) Scott ( Yammie cruiser ) Alf , Ben and Brian ( BMW's )
Peter ( a Japanese bike ) AND Garry ( ex Yammie ) NOW aboard a nice new Moto Guzzi copy of a BMW GS,
but with the twin cylinders NOT in the correct possy !

Anyway, we headed off to Korumburra via Nyora and Poowong with Garry "running in " the Guzzi at warp speed.
Smoko over, Peter suggested we do part of The Baron's Loop out via Mirboo North and " lots of other places'
heading back towards Leongatha to regroup. Sadly when Ian was corner marking at Dumbalk ( I think ) he noticed fuel
leaking on his bike so parked to suss it out. Alf ( TEC ) rode on to let us know and Garry ( bless him ) rode back to Ian
to try and help. Garry decided to use his Roadside Assist to get Ian's bike home and told Peter we should keep going.
We had a short lunch and rode to Loch and back to Lang Lang via the twisties. Then on the very bumpy hwy to
Tooradin for an ice cream. Then home.

Thanks Peter and Alf for another good day's riding.

25th September

Another sunny day with the odd cloud in sight, 12 bikes at Delbake and a warm welcome from all !! Our ride leader for the day was Julie, with a little help from Her new GPS (Alan Lindley) after our farewell from our president we headed through Tooradin and turning off at Lang Lang, we all enjoyed the ride through the Hills to Nyora, loch and morning tea at Grantville where Graham the president of the wanderers greeted us before there groups departure.

We said our goodbye’s to Craig Hughes and headed down the highway to Cowes where the view over Westernport was crystal clear riding down main St Cowes to the car park.

As we were getting off the bikes for our 1 Hr lunch stop in sunny Cowes, an unexpected visitor appears in holiday mode !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Is that a slab on your shoulder?? English Al and Janet were in Cowes for a break over the school holidays and what a coincidence that we caught up with them..

After stopping at the bikers shop in Cowes to get a new pair of jeans we headed back down the highway turning off at Grantville, to Almurta, Loch, Nyora, and Lang Lang. Lots of windies today fantastic!! (And nearly a no through road!!!) Last stop and goodbye’s Tooradin, Total of 270 klms

Dave & Julie Walters

(Thanks to everyone for the great support today, On my First full ride as ride leader it really was Exhilarating, A big thank you to the hard working GPS (Al Lindley) and (Ron Olsson) as tail end Charlie. (You guys do a great job)

Looking forward to see some other new faces as a ride leader, as I took the challenge

And loved it………

Today Twelve of our members enjoyed a BRILLIANT day out on our motorised two wheeled " death traps ".
We were led by a very nervous, but determined Julie Walters....... AND we ALL got home... so there !

I must add that we had TWO ( sorry.. One and a half ) ride leaders cos Alan L had the pleasure of listening to Julies muffled
exhaust note all day because he rode "shotgun"... just in case.

Leaving Baxter to Lang Lang then to Nyora and onto Loch... where we DIDN'T stop but headed to Grantville for a coffee ( or tea ) break.
Two riders left us so ( um 12 takeaway 2 is er..... fewer bikes anyway ) then we headed off to Phillip Island and Cowes for lunch.

Back on board again Julie wanted to have a look at the Bike Gear shop while we were there. We rode back to Grantville and did
a righty travelling onto Loch and then into Nyora and back to Lang Lang to get on the highway to Tooradin for our cheerio's.

A great day... so thanks to the NOW very experienced ride leader Julie and thanks to Alan L AND the TEC Ron.

Another non planned ride.... but a goodie !

A New Ride Leader

Meeting at Baxter as per normal someone asked if they could try leading the ride, so making sure not to pour water on enthusiasm it was agreed to let her lead [as it's not often we have new volunteers]. After a few pointers on what to look for i.e. watch your mirrors for riders behind. make sure on corner markers etc we all set off towards Loch via Lang Lang Nyora finishing up at Grantville for morning coffee. Had a chat with the Mornington Wanderers there where upon we were asked who is leading our ride and with great pride we all pointed out Julie and someone said must be a slow ride seeing that she is on a cruiser well let me be the first to say if you want to see how a cruiser is ridden properly try and follow this 'bird' and her friend ain't much slower either. From there it was on to Cowes for lunch where we met up with English Al and Janet who happen to be down there camping. After lunch called into 'Bikers Gear' where David bought a new pair of jeans [I think he soiled the other ones on the trip there]. Back on the road to Grantville, Loch, Nyora again and finally finishing up at Tooradin for obligatory ice-cream. Great day AGAIN was had by all thanks for tail-end Ron.....Alan Lindley

Sunday 18th September

Arriving at Baxter Delbake on a sunny Sunday morning!! With just enough time for coffee and breakfast, the turnout was Brilliant. 14 bikes!! Huhumm 6 Boulevards  (Alan was contemplating swapping bikes with Mark for the day!!)

With Ron Olson as leader and Al Lindley as tailend we set off through Pearcedale  and on to Woori Yallock for morning tea. Where we struggled to get us all in the car park, due to every one being out and about enjoying the sunshine, apart from one ignorant driver nearly backing over me!!I thought he might have heard me!! Not so...........Maybe my exhaust needs to be louder..................

After a coffee break we headed up through Cockatoo, Gembrook, and onto Neerim Sth the roads were great with plenty of windies in which there were a few peg scraping Boulevards!!!

OOps!!! how did one of our riders end up behind tailend Charlie????? Mmmm not mentioning any names Craig. Stopping at Jindivick Cafe for refuel and a most Delicious lunch for some.

We headed off with Al Lindley as leader and Ron as Tailend the roads were badly corroded and a few potholes along a short stretch of the road but still an enjoyable ride through Longwarry and on to Tooradin for our farewell ice cream.

Thanks to Ron and Alan for their usual well organized ride with corner marking working well throughout the day. And a BIG  thank-you for every one else for supporting the Sunday rides and coming along!!!

( Hey Al think I might try Tail end,,) What do you think??..

The Walters. : -))

Sunday 27th August

Sunday 14th August

Arriving at Delbake I was surprised to see only 2 bikes out to enjoy such an
Awesome day of sunshine!!

Brian Burling, Bob Russell and myself were joined by new member Craig Hughes and his mate Dean.

After a brief welcome Craig and Dean mentioned the toolshed in Noojee so Noojee it was. Craig lead and Bob was tail end Charlie, "what a perfect morning"!! we rode through Kooweerup, and Longwarry for a quick stop and then on to Jindivick, and Neerim Sth we had a few windies which was great.  Parts of the road was badly corroded with the rain but none the less it was an enjoyable ride and great pace well lead Craig.

Arriving for lunch at the toolshed in Noojee just before 12 noon!! we were lucky to arrive before the rush it was amazing the amount of bikes and car enthusiasts trying to get parked. The open fire was roaring and the place was so Authentic, full of old tools  and machinery you could of spent hours looking at everything.

After an enjoyable lunch outside in the sunshine we decided to head off and head back the way we came, someone mentioning that maybe I'd like to lead back!! My first lead ride ,WOW I loved it, how enjoyable, I definitely will be doing this again. Thanks to all for your good company and an enjoyable ride, also well done Craig not only have you just joined the club but you were a ride leader well done!'

Sunday June 26th

Four members met at Baxter on Sunday as there is always a ride on Sundays we headed off towards Pakenham to do
a delivery and were invited in for a cuppa and a chat and to meet a very young 'member'. Back on the road heading to the hills
with [long way] Ron leading towards Healesville for a very pleasant lunch and more 'natter' along with what seemed every one else
in Victoria. Heading once more into the darkest regions of the Murrundindi forest lead again by Ron with Bob close on his heals.
After doing the Chum Creek loop saw us meandering back towards Pakenham and this is where the 'fun' started, rounding a
corner to be faced with a DETOUR sign. The said detour had us heading towards gravel believing to be only a short distance we pressed
on...wrong... the only person smiling was Bob on the G.S. Any way every one arrived home safely and before the rain set in.
Thanks to you guys for another great day encompassing all our ride grades...Alan Lindley

Sunday June 5th.

What a great day I and seven other riders have had.
Ron led us from Baxter (now I know we did not go to Loch.... so we probably didn't head for Gippsland )
Five-Ways and onto Pakenham (hang on I am just checking the street bible) AH yes we went on some beaut roads to Woori Yallock for smoko.
The sun was in our eyes for the trip north and I (as TEC) had a green Commodore wagon following for many kms so decided to stick strictly to max speed allowed just in case it was the Gestapo. I fell behind the guys BUT the string of pearls worked well so we all met for a Wee coffee at Woori Yallock.
From there Alan L led us ( bible again) SOMEWHERE... I remember Yarra Junction and Powelltown also ONE of the Neerim's ( and a small excursion on a dirt road that used to be a four lane freeway when the area was first settled !)
We stopped at Jindivick for lunch where Paul (Ninja) decided to head home alone.
After many jokes and lots of Bull#*$% we travelled on more great country roads via Koo Wee Rup heading to Tooradin where some of us enjoyed an ice cream.
Thanks Ron ( jap bike) Alan L ( jap bike) Alan H ( jap bike) Bill ( Suzy) Garry ( Yammy) Mark ( Trumpy) Paul ( Kwaka) and of course your truly ( Beemer)
Not a ride calendar ride..... but nor are Wednesday rides. So put the long john's on and " cock your leg over " The BIKE The BIKE !!!
Thanks Guys

Sunday 29th May 2011

Woke up to a coolish  overcast morning, wife was in no hurry to get up so I got dressed and quietly left the house and met up with the boys at Baxter. Alan, Gary, Gerard, Bob, Peter, Brian, Nick and myself  were all standing around waiting,  waiting and waiting.

Then Alan Lindley was the bravest amongst us and declared right lads were too Someone whispered Walhalla, someone else said I gotta be home by 2.00pm. Alan then decided Jindivick and off we went with Peter TEC.

Off we go down that well travelled  Baxter Tooradin road  to Sth Gippsland Hwy  through the back of Cardinia, Pakenham Sth, Cora Lyn, Bunyip, Longwarry Nth. Then the fun began as we climbed to Jindivick, it got colder and colder with many ups and downs twisties wet roads, dry roads, leaf covered roads, pot hole roads but we all had a ball  and kept our group tight.  All 8 of us arrived at Jindivick  with smiles on our faces  we parked our bikes and went in for some warmth and a wee bit of morning tea.

Bellies full and warm we begrudgingly left  our sanctuary  in search of more adventure  we encountered some rough roads that required all of us to be vigilant going around the twisties.  We all arrived at Tooradin  had a quick debriefing said our farewells and home we went. I wish to thank Alan Lindley for a great trip and to Peter TEC  for looking after us.

On personal note we had 6 radios on this trip and what a lot of fun it is, if anyone is thinking about a two way radio do yourself a favour and get one now they are so much fun.

Cheers The Phantom aka Kim

Ride Report 21st May 2011

It was a typical Sunday bunch of riders – Ron O, Alan Lindley, Gary Disher, Brian B, Bob Russell , ‘Scots’ Ian, Wolfie, Ben and the undersigned that gathered at Baxter on a day when the weather report was not especially auspicious. As there was no specific destination declared on the Ride Calendar, Ron, after glancing at the sky, announced he’d lead the ride and we’d all “head for that blue bit” which was in the general direction of Grantsville. We had to ride through some rain to get to the ‘blue bit’ and the roads to Grantville were not paved with gold but copious amounts of gravel, unmade bits, crap, mud and potholes that echoed if you shouted into them. We arrived at Loch, with our senses considerably sharpened but otherwise unharmed, for a morning break. We relaxed and had a very pleasant coffee and natter then ‘big Al’ took over as ride leader: he, very originally, headed for ‘other blue bit’. Well, it was like Moses (for those that don’t know him - Al’s a similar age but doesn’t have the beard and night-dress) leading the tribes from the desert, the sun shone, the roads were smooth, the bends long and forgiving; it was a most enjoyable run that took us all around the back via Koo Wee Rup to the SGH thence to Tooradin for our goodbyes followed by a race for home before the rain set in yet again.
Another Sunday well spent and from the comments enjoyed by all.
Well done, Ride Leaders!!

Sunday 3rd April

Ride leader Alan Lindley
Tail-end-Charlie Colin Gibbons

T'was on the 3rd of April that I awoke from a deep and meaningful slumber and remembered that it was a Sunday and I was let off the leash to go for a bike ride.
The birds were twittering the cows were mooing the sheep were baaing and all seem to be well with the world and I thought what a great day for a ride.
So off I set to Baxter which is where we all meet for a coffee before setting off on a bike ride.
Now it dawned on me that it was the end of daylight saving and that I would have plenty of time [having an extra hour] to sit and enjoy my coffee before my ride.
Not long after me arriving along came Peter Baulch for a cuppa soon to be joined by Colin Gibbons now it turned out that Peter wouldn't be joining us for a ride.
At this stage I would like to thank Colin for taking up the position of T.E.C cos I had the honour of being ride leader.
The ride turned out to be a very easy C GRADE with an all-round distance of 32kms cos Colin and I decided that seeing there was only two us we would go home.

Sunday Ride To Eildon. (Type A++) 27th March 2011

With cloudy skies and a chill in the air we all met up for morning coffee at 9.00am prompt at Del Bake Baxter.

Pete Baulch had an idea to ride to Jamison on some new roads, sounded good to all of us, but with the Grand Prix starting at 5.00pm were cutting it close.

Postie Pete was to be the Ride Leader for the venture, the 4 pigs in the middle were Scottish Ian, Pom's Nick, Bill, & yours truly English Al, with Pommy Brian volunteering to be the Tail Gunner. President Bedford was there for breakfast, but alas could not make the ride as he had a new mailbox to build. (You missed a great ride Prez)

4 pom's, 1 scot & 1 Aussie! There must be a joke there somewhere!

So 9.30 rolls around after lots of great conversation and it was time to saddle up and get out of dodge. (Well Baxter actually but you get my drift)

We took some great back roads via the GPS in Pete's head along Fisheries Road, Manks Rd, and too many others to mention arriving for our morning tea & pee stop 63 km's away in Woori Yallock. The six of us filled up on coffee & tea and had some great conversations. I informed the ride leader that my cornering abilities were a little lacking, as all the roads in Florida were either straight or small sweepers. I was told to follow the lines of the riders in front and keep the power on in the corners. This I did and it worked a treat.

We rolled out of Woori Yallok and ventured onward through Healesville at a snails pace, out the other side we gained a little speed until we came up behind a rather slow Merc doing 50-60 through the forest. As we got over the hill the speed picked up and we managed to ditch that Merc. We took the road through Buxton, and made a right at Taggerty over the rickety rackerty bridge into Thornton. Here we made a right turn and took the sweeping road all the way through to Eildon where we filled up with Gas and stopped for a brief lunch. I had the "Gourmet Ham Sandwich" which consisted of 2 pieces of white sliced bread with a little ham and mustard, I guess they call it Gourmet because they cut it into triangles! Anyway, we looked at our watches and decided the Jamison was gonna be out of the question, as we all wanted to get back to watch the Grand Prix.

So we saddled up and Pete took us on a great trip up the mountain on Skyline Road. My cruiser managed to keep up, well just about with the ST's, BMW & Bandit.
At the top we took a group photo and some great scenic shots. The decent was a little hairy for me (English Al) I think my brakes were smoking when we got to the bottom. We took the back road out of Eildon to Alexandra where we picked up the Maroondah Hwy through Acheron, Taggerty eventually stopping for gas at Buxton Roadhouse. We ventured home through Healesville along Koo Wee Rup Rd to Woori Yallock and took the Beaconsfield back roads down to Macca's in Berwick. We stopped here for a well earned Ice cream shouted by our ride leader for the day Postie Pete.

We had a great political debate in Macca's during our ice creams. We made our way safely home from Berwick via the highway and fisheries road.

Many thanks to all the members for a truly great day out. Great friendship, Great ride & the weather was great too.

The trip was most definitely an 'A ride' around 370 km's Baxter to Baxter, but I had 445 km's for the day living way out in Rosebud west.

Marks out of ten for the ride = 12

Special thanks to our Ride Leader & Tail Gunner for a job well done.

Many Regards

Afghanistan Ride Report.

Four enthusiastic members assembled at Baxter for the mandatory coffee and chit-chat before deciding on a Ride Leader and a Destination.

Well, there are some lessons to be learned in this process..............

First, Bob Russell volunteered...........

Second, he was not to be outdone by all those members with radios.......... Bob turned up with a GPS...!!!

Third, little did we know what GPS really stands for ....................but we sure found out later........... GRAVEL, POT HOLES, SCREENINGS

So off we went via Tooradin...... and then the electronic trickery started............. after some rather strange roads we arrived in Jindivik for a well-earned break, a snack and a coffee.

Duly refreshed, we then headed off to parts unknown, dutifully guided by Bob's Electronic MONSTER which took us to another world along unknown and unmade roads through dust, sand, gravel, rocks, screenings, potholes.......... We were later to discover that we were visiting Afghanistan (must be Bob's ex-Vietnam military experience re-visited), except that we didn't see any Taliban.

So having successfully converted our Sports Tourers into "All wheel drive Cross Country machines", we all traversed hundreds of kilometres of GPS - gravel, potholes and screenings before we made it safely out the other side of the world, only re appear near Warragul.
From here we travelled to Yarragon for a "wee" break; then on up the mountains and eventually through Lang Lang, Tooradin and back to Baxter.

So, our collective thanks to Bob for taking us to Afghanistan for the day................. Thoroughly enjoyable, entertaining company, pathetic roads, goat tracks and mountain paths, etc, etc.......

Moral to the story............. Beware of any member volunteering to lead a ride using a GPS.

Get a radio Bob................. it's much more fun.

REEFTON RIDE. 6th March 2011

Many thanks to my ride tutors, Ronnie – Postie Pete – Brian( the Dasher ) Burling, and somebody called Midshipman Swales. I so enjoyed myself today, a great ride to Reefton, and some very helpful tuition on the way home. I so loved being ride leader I must make a habit of it.

We have such a great club which is abundant of riders more experienced than myself willing to assist others. I know I will be a better rider after today.

My sincere thanks to you four.

Good to hear it still works Brian!!!!!!!!!!!Ha Ha!

Captain Mark Bedford

Soon to be President!

Two Bays Branch - Ulysses inc

Five enthusiastic riders assembled at Baxter around 9-00am for the mandatory coffee before departing at 9-30.

Ron lead the way with three other Sports Tourers in Nick, Brian and Baulchy, along with the solitary Cruiser of "soon to be anointed" Commodore Mark.

In cloudless and windless conditions (does it get any better for Motorcycling???), we travelled through Pearcedale, Devon Meadows. Five Ways, Cardinia, Pakenham, Cockatoo and on to Woori Yallock for another shot of caffeine.

It was then on to Yarra junction, Warburton and eventually McMahon's Creek for a lunch break at the famous Reefton Pub. Duly refreshed with nourishment and drinks, we headed back through Warburton for a "Cruiser Fuel stop". Shortly after this Mark took over the lead to demonstrate his newly acquired "riding skills" from some live tuition via our radios. What a difference a bit of helpful and practical advice can make with a willing listener.
First Result, is one more confident rider with a new appreciation of corner lines, corner speeds, throttle control and counter steering techniques.
Second Result is we now have a newly skilled Ride Leader with an understanding and appreciation of how to lead a club ride. Not a bad outcome...!!!!

Today was a great example of how we can assist and encourage each other to improve our skills, making riding safer and more enjoyable for all.

A fantastic days riding, thoroughly enjoyed by those who chose to take advantage of the brilliant weather, the mateship and the helpfulness of fellow members.

Thanks to Ron and Mark......... a great day, and much appreciated by Nick, Brian and Baulchy.

Two Bays riders looking for a ride today, split into two groups. Those wanting to see the Historic Racers at Phillip Island, and those wanting a leisurely ride through the hills.
The latter group comprised Ron (leader), Nick, Peter and Garry. (That's 3 Honda ST's and a Wannabe with a new slightly "noisy" exhaust.)....!!!!!

We had a good run through Fiveways, Cardinia, Upper Pakenham, Cockatoo, Woori Yallock (Morning Tea) and on through Healesville, Miles Creek, and on to Yea. After a quick breather, a cold drink we were on our way again through Flowerdale and Glenburn, and back to Healesville for lunch.

Our homeward route was via Cockatoo, Pakenham, Fiveways and then it was all over.

Fine weather, good dry roads, no wind, bright sunshine ...... fantastic riding conditions.

Thanks for a great ride Ron. Pity it was enjoyed by just 4 club members.

3rd October 2010

Toolangi & Healesville 3rd October.

First day of Daylight Saving was a magnificent day for ride. On of those days that Alan Lindley will forever regret missing.

Five riders consisting of Ron, Peter, Bob, Ian and Colin; respectively on three Honda ST's , a BMW and a Triumph; assembled at Baxter for a coffee and chat before heading off.

Clear skies, a distinct lack of wind, forecast for 24 degrees and dry roads all made for a great start to the day.

Ron was our Ride Leader for the day , with Col as our T.E.C.

Chris & Bill Barton farewelled us as we set off through Pearcedale, Five Ways, and wound our way on through Pakenham, to Woori Yallock for Morning break.

Then the good bits started and we were on our way again through Healesville before the climb up through the twisties of Kinglake Rd to Toolangi; before the equally twisty decent down Myers Rd to Healesville for lunch at the Beechworth Bakery. There must have been a thousand bikes there as everyone one was taking advantage of the terrific riding conditions.

After lunch, we travelled a new road (not previously used by Two Bays Riders), along Don Road through Badger Creek and the Don Valley to Launching Place. This road is approx 20 kms, about half of which is un-made gravel. Alan ("I don't do dirt") Lindley, would have just loved this bit....!!!!! From there we travelled home through Gembrook, Pakenham, Clyde, Five Ways, and Pearcedale to Baxter where we all finished from where we had started.

Temperatures of 24 degrees reminded us of what we have to look forward to as the real riding season unfolds for us all.

Thanks to Ron Olsson for leading a truly fantastic ride, and Col Gibbons for making sure we all got back safely.

What a pity only 5 members of Two Bays took advantage of the great conditions.

Sunday 22nd August 2010

Sunday Morning, something was different? No rain. I quickly made “she who must be obeyed breakfast” did some family chores, then excused myself and said I would get the Sunday paper for her.

Baxter got there just after 9.00am. Low and behold who was there, Peter B, Mark B, and newcomer Paul (what a mean and powerful bike he has), had a coffee, listened to you know who about the elections and a hung parliament. Next to arrive was Gerard R- this made it 3 cruisers and 2 wanna be’s.

Peter B then said the magic phrase “where to”. A little bit different to “are we there yet” which I have had to put up with over the last few years. Peter B then asked if I was leading a ride to Inverloch next weekend, and have I done a recognisance. I sheepishly said to Peter that I had no idea where Inverloch was. We then had to ring Mark B’s wife to get permission for him to go - no problemo she said.

5 of us left Baxter on a cool dry morning. Me leading, Mark B TEC. Got to Lang Lang, OK except going through town was not sure if its straight ahead or left at the roundabout. Got the general idea that it was straight ahead when I heard honking and yelling, and looking in my mirror I saw everyone pointing straight ahead.

5 of us arrived at Korumburra, what a nice town. Morning tea was even better. Got to thaw out and got to know Paul. From here it was to Inverloch - some very nice twisty bits. Along the way I somehow forgot to turn left for Inverloch yet everyone else didn’t. As I was doing a “U” turn and about to pull up with everyone else, I decided to play a game of Simon Says - and he said, lay your bikes down, so I did and I won cause nobody else did.

5 of us arrived at Inverloch, another nice town. Had lunch, thawed out again. Going home we followed the coast and I must say Gerard R was doing a good job as ride leader, considering I was leading and he was second. We turned left onto Archies Creek Road - this was awesome.

For those who know, for those who don’t you must come next Sunday. This took us out to the South Gippsland Highway. From here it was a nice head wind ride to Baxter for coffee and a debriefing - a most enjoyable day was had by all.                                                         Thanks to Peter B, Gerard R and Mark B

Sunday ride July 4th 2010

It wasn’t a particularly pleasant day weather wise but the S.T+1 division of the Two-Bays branch still decided to partake in a jaunt to the outer reaches of East Gippsland well we got as far as Loch via Grantville so I suppose that wasn’t bad [at least we went out] .The road from Grantville to Loch seems to be higher than most other roads 'cos it wasn’t long before we found ourselves immersed in thick fog our only saving grace was that the ride leader had a bright tail light that we all followed, good job he didn’t run off the road otherwise we would have all followed him. A warm coffee and soup soon had us fit and raring to go again so heading in the direction of Korumburra with a new ride leader who took us up a small road that doesn’t seem to get a lot of use and onto a more major highway to downtown Poowong then heading in the direction of Drouin but not quite making  it as we the headed to Modella and Koo Wee Rup for lunch. A  very pleasant little excursion for 4 +1 members of the now rapidly expanding S.T group of Two-Bays joking aside it was great to have you along Brian even it was to take pressure off Ron who if no one has heard is looking for a SILVER  S.T .

Part time ride leader Ron Olsson  [S.T]

Part time tail end charlie Alan Lindley [S.T]

Rider Nick Swales [S.T]

Rider Alan Hipworth [S.T]

Rider Brian Burling [b.m.w]

Sunday 17th Jan, dawned fine and sunny, but with a forecast of some weather to come.. But the threat of strong winds and showers (heavy rain..!!!), did not deter a stalwart band of about 8 or 9 guys from meeting at our usual departure point in Baxter for a mandatory coffee prior to a quick consensus meeting to determine a destination and route.

This done, Baulchy and Al agreed to share the lead role with Ron O accepting the task of Tailend Charlie. Promptly at 9-30 we headed  off thru Pearcedale, Tooradin, Lang Lang, where the first change of lead took place, and Alan (riding "very conservatively"),  took us through all the beaut winding, twisty bits. At Korumburra we stopped for morning tea, meeting up with about 20 Mornington Wanderers, who were en route to Port Albert.

Baulchy again took the lead, taking us on to Leongatha, along half of the "Baron's Loop" to Dumbalk, then on up the mountains to Mirboo North. It was just before we arrived that the wind blew a gale and the heavens opened with full force. A quick scurry into   Mirboo North saw us all park our bikes under cover, while we headed off to the Bakery for a well earned lunch.

With more bad weather on the way, it was on with the wet weather gear for the return ride, as we again encountered strong winds and as Ron would say "wet rain".........

But as we arrived in Tooradin, Hughie shone on us as we all removed our "wets", said our farewells and headed for home.

After 265 kms, we all agreed that it had been a good ride, especially for "Conservative Al" as he continues to run-in his new ST, before it's first scheduled 1000 km service later this week.

Thanks guys, the company, the conversation and the ride was terrific as usual.

January 3rd

Happy New Year Two Bay people.

Alan Lindley on his " $ 4000 " BMW, Peter Baulch on the ST, Nick Swales ( yes folks... Nick is back ) on his Suzy and Brian Burling astride ' Dolly Parton' left Baxter for an unplanned day in the saddle.
Peter suggested Lake Eildon for lunch... so off we went.
Alan took us out through Pakenham and all the twisty roads to the north ( please don't ask... I just enjoyed the ride ) so that we arrived in Healesville for coffee.
Peter then led us through the Black Spur.... at a VERY easy pace cos the metal boxes ahead of us were in no hurry... onto and upward to the Lake.
What magic views to be seen all around.
We had lunch in Eildon and Peter then took us over a small country road over looking the Lake on our way through Alexandra and headed  south towards home.
After many many twisties and lots of k's we stopped at Macca's in Berwick for a cone.... sorry the machine is no work !!

We said our goodbyes and headed home.

A great day. Apart from Peter , Alan and Nick I really enjoyed the company !!!

Hope to see more riders enjoying their bikes in the future.
Brian Burling

November 15th

Today's unplanned ride was great.

Four bikes were about to leave Baxter after being waved off by Mark and "Post Office Pete", when we were joined by a fifth member. Alan Lindley led on his Honda followed by Michael on the BMW, Bob on his Suzy, "new" John on the Boulevard (?) and Brian ( the scribe) on my BMW.

Off to Tooradin and the Lang Lang turnoff to Nyora, Poowong and a "come over here you lot" request from Mr Plod on his BMW parked at the Ranceby corner to Korumburra. He checked our licences and wrote down all our particulars..... I am expecting an invitation to the Policeman's Ball..... that's BALL Mr Lindley... singular. Mr Plod had a chat about safety and we were on our way to morning tea at Korumburra.

"New" John decided to find his own way home, so four of us headed off on many twisties down to Wonthaggi and somehow ended up at Loch for lunch. Please don't ask me how..... I just followed my front wheel. But we rode on some great roads.

After a very relaxing lunch, Alan took us back via Nyora and Lang Lang and onto the Sth Gippy Hwy heading for home.

Great weather, good company, beaut roads and a chat with the law.

Sorry most of you missed it.

Ride Report - 9th August 2009 by George Stayner

On Sunday 9th August, four Two Bays Members (Peter Baulch, Brian Burling, George Stayner led by Bob Froling) were  waved off from Baxter by President Tiny and Secretary Mark), after Tiny had shown off her scooter.  The quartet departed  at 9.30am, with Wonthaggi as the final destination, passing through Poowong then the Barons Loop, Korumburra (coffee) and finally Wonthaggi where we had lunch at Macca's.

The weather was about as good as it gets this time of year, cool but sunny with a bit of wind, no wet stuff.

We bade farewell to each other at Tooradin, then we made our way home by about 2.30pm.

A great ride led very well by Bob.

Ride Report for Sunday 29th March, '09

You know those days when it dawns, just fine,  no wind and a forecast of about mid 20's. You know those days. They are the ones just made for bike riding. Well Sunday was one of those near perfect days. So nine of assembled in Baxter for a ride to "somewhere".  After the obligatory coffee we set off right on 9-30 with Alan Lindley leading the way and El Presidente Tiny wearing the Tailend Charlie vest. Great riding conditions as we rode through Tooradin, Fiveways, Upper Pakenham and on into the fantastic Dandenongs with bright sun beaming through the trees and providing endless beautiful sights. Gembrook was our Coffee break stop in surprisingly peaceful and quiet surrounds. Then on our way again meandering through Launching Place and on through Macclesfield towards Yellingbo.

With everything running like clockwork, in near perfect conditions, we were all harshly reminded of how the very slightest of lapses can have unexpected consequences on a bike. Running a bit wide on a bend with some adverse camber, Kevin Cooper soon found himself on the grass dodging culverts and trees while trying to slow down. Inevitably a brush with a tree unseated Kev somewhat unceremoniously, and had his bike somersault over him. Miraculously, Kevin was quickly on his feet as assistance was on hand immediately. Our system of the string of pearls worked perfectly with everyone from ride Leader to Tailend Charlie quickly on the scene. Two members took care of safety alerts a good distance either side of the incident, while Kevin was given every assistance and his bike retrieved - somewhat the worse for wear.

When it was deemed that both bike and ride were up to it we proceeded cautiously on to Emerald for a much appreciated break and a pleasant lunch.
The afternoon was a continuation of our ride in excellent conditions, eventually arriving at Thompsons Rd Servo for the now  "compulsory" soft-serve from Macca's.  The ride ended with all having enjoyed outstanding conditions to enjoy a casual ride and the mateship of fellow rider. Kevin was starting to feel the effects of his bush bashing excursion and may well have bruised or cracked ribs which will be a painful reminder for a few days.

The manner in which Kevin's incident was handled was a credit to all concerned.

22 February 2009

The F'karwey Ride.
Today's ride, undertaken by Ride Leader Ron, along with Pres - Alan Lindley & Sec - Peter Baulch covered almost 600 kms as a recognisance ride  for next weekend's trip to Maldon and the steam train ride. The ride took in Gisborne (morning tea break), Trentham, Maldon (for lunch) and    then extended into a very long round trip taking in Castlemaine, Chewton, then on to Lancefield, Pyalong and Broadford. Here we had a   welcome  break at Peter's brother Max's place for a refreshing cold drink and stretch the legs. From Broadford the trip got interesting, taking in Wandong, Wallan, Whittlesea, South Morang, Doreen, Greensborough, Diamond Creek, Eltham, Doncaster and eventually home via East Link. The confusing meander through unfamiliar territory in all those N-E suburbs and semi rural areas, prompted Pres Alan to ask the inevitable question.....  Where the F'karwey???????  A very enjoyable ride that will ensure next weekend's trip to Maldon will be a gem.

22nd February 2009

A small gathering congregated at the Baxter starting point, seven bikes of which two were visitors from NSW.  Michael Nagle lead us off towards Grantville where we  turned for the scenic ride through the mountains to Wonthaggi for morning tea. From there we headed to Inverloch via Cape Paterson, Tarwin Lower and onto  Walkerville which overlooks Waratah Bay towards Wilsons Prom which we couldn't see you all know why.  From Walkerville we head off to who knows where because even  the ride leader wasn't too sure how to get to Meeniyan! we finally arrived and had our lunch.  After lunch we headed towards home via Gippy Hwy to Bena then across to Poowong back to Tooradin where we said our goodbyes.  Thanks to Michael for a enjoyable ride.

Ride Report – 08 February 2009

After the heat of yesterday the cooler morning seemed ideal for a bike ride. Alan (Pres), Peter (Hon.Sec), Alan & Glennis, Mike & Thea, Gary Hipwell and Bob Russell were of the same opinion, and we all gathered at Baxter. The bushfires restricted the available routes but El Presidente confidently set off for Tooradin and the South Gippsland Highway with Alan & Glennis acting as tail-enders. Turning off for Koo Wee Rup it wasn’t long before we came across a police road-block forcing the group to make – the President’s favourite - a left-hand turn. Then it was a quick run to Cardinia before re-joining the South Gippsland Highway. As the Hon. Sec. commented “a few more circles like that will see us disappearing up our own fundamental orifice”, with that terrifying   thought it started to rain, first a little then a torrential downpour as we travelled through Lang Lang, Townsville, Nyora, Cairns and anywhere else with similar precipitation! I had packed my wet weather gear but  didn’t want to stop to don it and risk losing the rest of party, I was not alone in this respect – so it was several drowned rats that arrived at a point in the road where the tarmac     had ceased…. Wonderful, I can think of adjectives to preface ‘wonderful’ but as this newsletter has feminine readership I shall not introduce them. There is nothing like a wet slippery unmade road     to take your mind off a pair of saturated draggin’ jeans (see everything has an upside) and with such concentrated minds we all got through without mishap. It was about this time the ride-leader noticed he was short of petrol ( I have to mention this due to his comments about me in his last ride report) so with no more ado it was back (at risk to the “fundamental orifice) to the South Gippy  and a coffee/fill-up stop at the metropolis of Grantville. It was upon dismounting the bikes there and noticing their filthy condition that murderous thoughts began. However, our President thought there had been enough excitement for one day and terminated the ride. So I was off home in the pouring rain, with wet weather gear on although it was hard to tell whether inside or outside was the wetter, to Mornington where it seems not a drop of water has fallen all day.

January 18th 2009

G'day guys,

First attempt at a ride report, so here goes....

What a sensational 26 degree day to ride with friends through the glorious hills and surrounds of Gippsland, the Baxter cafe was the gathering  point for 13 keen riders where we would make our way to Loch for morning tea, and arrived at our lunch stop destination in Mirboo Nth, where   we were even joined by a stray K100 rider for a while who seemed to enjoy the groups riding style. Our ride leader Michael invited riders to take  in a scenic route, high over the hills of Mirboo Nth with spectacular views. After a hearty lunch at the Mirboo Nth bakery (which had a thorough workout) with our stomaches and the cruisers fuel tanks refilled we departed for Yarragon then made our way to our last stop at Tooradin for a group photo and final farewells. With perfect weather a truly great day was had by all.

regards
Darin

January 4th 2009.

Twelve bods set off for Warragul and to meet up with Kevin Guiney and to be shown around his new abode but after twelve ["Hells Angels more emphasis on the Angels] turning up I reckon he might have an eviction notice served on him. Morning tea at Yarragon then the ride leader reins were turned over to me to proceed to Noojee for lunch. Some bikes were refuelled at Neerim but one decided he didn't need any -- Wrong. Sorry Nick for mentioning this matter but that's what happens when you don't volunteer to write up the ride report. It was a pretty uneventful ride except that a couple of corners were 'over cooked' by a member on a Blackbird.
Ride leader--- Alan Rae and Alan Lindley
Tailend Charlie-----Brian Burling

Sunday 30th November.

Ride leader Alan Lindley and Gary Hipwell
   Tailenders Jack and Malie Froling.

Considering the weather forecast the turn out for which is for intense and purposes our last official ride this year was very good. We all met at Baxter, some of us for our morning kick-start coffee and the rest for their healthy water. Off to the first stop which happened to be Koo-Wee-Rup to do a drop off at my daughters then onto Warragul via Bayles, Mardella and Drouin. Apparently there were two police on an overpass which some of us didn't see, just as well we were on the correct limit.
First wee break was at Yarragon, it was at this point that Gary and myself decided to change places. Up through the hills of Moe [called Moe Heights] and onto Thorpdale and Mirboo North for lunch. After lunch headed towards Dumbalk and Leongatha finally saying good-byes at Tooradin........It would seem that you don't need a big engine to be up the front behind the ride leader. Hoping that every one had a good time and keep your eyes on the Ride Calender cos we are planning  a ride to Coal Creek village this is only a short ride of about 160kms because we   need time to have a look around. Some of us [5] did this the other Sunday and every said we should do it again when the weather is more    pleasant to us...Alan [president]
P.S thanks for taking the photos Ron..

Sunday 23rd November - Fish Creek, Coal Creek

Sunday October 19th - Flowerdale

Twelve bikes and riders and one pillion assembled at Baxter for John Rogers designated ride to Flowerdale. A very pleasant trip up through the Dandenongs to Lilydale, Yarra Glen up over the hills to Panton Hills, Christmas Hills Kinglake area on to the famous Flowerdale pub for lunch. Having been there for some minutes we joined by a Cobra car these things are powered by a fairly hefty size Ford V8. The said machine is owned and being built by Peter Baulch's brother [I believe his name is Max, apologies if I'm wrong] so it was great to meet up with him and his mate. Peter's mother has a lot to answer for.
After lunch we headed to Glenburn onto the Melba highway turning left at the Toolangi turning.  It is at this stage of the ride when things started to get interesting. A B[avarian]M[oney]W[aster] decided to have a rest. It's at times like this when on lookers come out with the b####y obvious questions like have you broken down?....no I'm just dismantling it on the side of  the road for fun...or what's wrong with it?...if we knew the answer to that we would fix it!  Any way not to be perturbed by such senseless moments of stupidity Gary and myself pressed on with out much success by this time we were joined by Peter Lees [the string of pearls was working]. So that the rest of the group knew of the situation Peter went off to inform every  one else. Now this is where it really became apparent how we look after each other....Our ride leader took it upon himself   to come back to Toolangi gave HIS bike to the unfortunate owner of the stricken bike, phoned up the appropriate rescue services and came home with the stricken bike on his own........ " A Bloody Great Round of Applause for John Rogers"..... Another quiet hero in our branch....
I think a good time was had by most of us anyway great ride John must do it again maybe round the other way.....Alan [president]

Special note to be taken of the photos taken on the day especially the one at the BP garage in Cranbourne at about 9.50am, notably one BLUE ST 1300 some forgot to refuel from the previous ride... Tut Tut

Sunday September 21st Ride

7 Members of the Two Bays Ulysses Club met at the Baxter Coffee Shop. All going for a Sunday ride The ride, to be led by Ron Olsson.  Which was to go on the roads that the Members would ride on going to Bairnsdale for the Barry Sheene Tribute Ride We went from Baxter to the South Gippsland Hwy turned right and then to the left heading towards Korumburra and then Leongatha and onto Foster From Foster it was on to Sale for lunch at the Duchy’s Crusin’ Shack.  A very nice place. A lot of Motor Cyclists stop there.  From there Alan Hipworth and my self (Doug Lutz) went back on the Princes Hwy, while the others went back through the Country.

Sunday August 24th Ride

Six bikes..... well three BMW's and some Japanese stuff.... met at Baxter, only to be gobsmacked by the appearance of Peter Baulch who had WALKED all the way from his home to wish us a safe ride. We assume Peter walked home again, cos none of us offered him a lift !!

The riders were Alan( Mr Prez), Les, Bob, Gary, George and yours truly.
Les said he would be happy to lead and Alan went tailend. We did the Tooradin bit then turned off to Longwarry, up to Jindivick then to Nilma, Bona Vista and a brunch stop in Yarragon. The roads were a little damp and quite potholed in places, but enjoyable. Being a newbie, I am not sure wether the "country smells" you inhale at times are from the cattle we are passing....... OR from the rider in front of you who just happens to be standing up on his bike pegs for a few seconds!!!!

Brunch was takeaway sitting in the Rotunda at Yarragon.... very relaxing.

Les then took us onto Thorpdale, Mirboo North, and into Leongatha for a coffee stop at Macca's. Again we rode some beaut roads.... lots of twisties AND two dogs running all over the road at one point.
Talking of twisties.... I am one of the slower riders through bends and am quite happy to see faster riders come past me.... I would rather see their tail-light than their headlight..... but it's in this situation when the "string of pearls" really works.... as it did on this ride cos the quicker guys slowed a little when on the straight stuff.

After coffee Les led us thru Korumburra and onto Nyora via Poowong to finish at Tooradin for farewells.

A great day out... thanks Les and thanks also to Alan for keeping my backside company thru the twisties... AND for letting me know where we had ridden.... I had my eyes shut most of the time...

Sunday 3rd August 2008

What a wonderful part of the world we live in… Just fantastic for those Sunday rides our members like to do. Hills, valleys, great scenery, a diversity of twisty and straight roads, fine weather (sometimes) and of course, the great company of fellow Two Bays Ulysses members.

Sunday 3rd of August was no exception, with 7 members (Ron, Alan, Peter, Nick, Brian, Les and Ian) meeting at Baxter for a warming Cappuccino and a brief discussion on “where to today?” before departure.

Ron led the way along the much travelled route via Tooradin, Lang Lang, Nyora, and Poowong to Korumburra, for the usual coffee and pee break.

Alan took the lead for the next sector through Leongatha, Dumbalk and on up to Mirboo North for our hour long Lunch break in glorious sunshine and 15 degrees.

Les then became Ride Leader, taking us on a very windy and hilly road through Boolarra, Churchill, Hazelwood, and looping back through Delburn to Mirboo North, Leongatha, and back to Tooradin for departure home.

With a variety of “Ride Leaders” and “Tail-end Charlies”, everyone (particularly newer members) are gaining not just ongoing ride experience, but also very valuable experience in these key ride positions.  With just one slip up – Nick failed the first rule “not to pass Ride Leader on a 250”, maybe a tail wind. Nick is looking forward to changing bikes shortly.

All agreed a great days riding had been enjoyed, covering some 360 kms.

Sunday, 6th July 2008

The three of us, Peter Baulch, Brian Burling and I left Baxter just after 09:30 and headed down the Moorooduc Highway towards the Peninsula. Peter led the way on this pleasant morning even if the weather was slightly overcast and chill it wasn’t raining! With Peter leading, we made out way down through Balnarring, Merricks, Red Hill and Shoreham to Flinders. We detoured inadvertently into the National, but decided not to stay as we weren’t dressed for the occasion and nobody had their clubs. Then off down the twisty Flinders-Rosebud Road to Sorrento finishing up in the café on the Back Beach for a coffee and a Bacon & Egg sarnie. A heart stopping moment in car park whilst dismounting I accidentally touched the side-mirror on the ST1300 which promptly fell apart and lay dangling by, what appeared to be, a thread off the side of the bike. There was no chance to blame this on a passing seagull as Peter had seen the left hand side of his bike collapse before his  very eyes. It was a great relief, particularly to my wallet, when he explained these mirrors are designed to do this on contact and quickly reassembled the parts and ‘stuck’ it back on. It may well have occurred to him that this could be a money making idea – be warned for future rides. Brian led the return trip, avoiding all golf courses, on coast as far as Rosebud then the Nepean Highway as far as Safety Beach and back on the coast road again. An excellent ride, as always, the weather held, the roads were great and the company good fun.

Sunday June 15th Ride

Five riders met at Baxter (Bob Russell, Bob Froling, Gary, Ron and myself ) all keen to follow our front wheels.
Ron was leader from Baxter to Tooradin then the Lang Lang turnoff heading to the twisties. We rode through some misty rain up in the hills which made the concentration level go up a notch. On through Poowong along more great roads into Korumburra where ONE of the riders had to get petrol cos he forgot to fill-up on his way to Baxter (why do we put up with these forgetful people and welcome them into Two Bays ??? ). Anyway, after I filled the BM at the servo, I joined the guys   for morning tea at the coffee shop.

Gary was our ride leader out of Korumburra and he led us over to 'err'..... somewhere and then to that other place on the  way to 'thingamy' passing through Mirboo North on our journey toward 'whatsitcalled' on some really great roads before reaching the Princes Hwy for a lunch stop at Yarragon ( I think ! )(Sorry Gary ).

After lunch Bob Russell took the lead and we ventured along some terrific quiet country roads, passing through Ellinbank... left...right... Lardner Park on our right and then ...left...left...right...right...left...oops..u turn..right and another left or two before passing through Bayles into Koo-wee-rup and ending the day at Tooradin.

Yes it was chilly and a little damp at times, but we had a great day on good roads with good company ( apart from the  wayward cow on the road ) travelling the best part of 300ks.

Thankyou guys.

Brian Burling.... "the newby"

PS...I strongly urge you NOT to use this ride report to plan a future ride...... you may end up in Tassie !! BB

Just back from our terrific ride to Townsville l was allowed out with clean bike 48.000 service new tyres my ST 1300 was back BMW were out in force today,5 of us turned up l will lead till coffee break ,headed off to Lang Lang over the mountains wet roads.  Good for wearing new tyres in bike seemed to manoeuvre round very well arrived at Korumburra for coffee break.

Gary took next shift heading out towards Leongatha then to Yarragon for lunch after some fish & chips it was Bob Russell’s turn

So we headed for home I THINK, we found some roads which were a mystery, stopped at intersections and decided which way to turn?

After an interesting ride we finally reached a sign pointing to Bayles we knew that one so headed that way and arrived back  in Tooradin

A chat and a laugh about our mystery way home all agreed it was a very enjoyable day out, goodbyes were said until next ride.

Ron Olsson.

Sunday 1st June

Owing to the fact that I had been unable to ride with the Wednesday Warriors for the last two weeks I thought I would take the opportunity to go with the Sunday mob yesterday. With the sun beaming down in Rye on the early morn I took off for Baxter at 8.45 am only to be bogged down in heavy fog at the half way mark. Being my first Sunday ride I assumed there  would be a few new faces I had not met however I knew every one on the scene. After waiting till around 10.00am for any stragglers we decided to start planning the route and Peter Baulch was elected ride leader unopposed. Much to my delight every bike there was a Honda 1300, so this immediately put my mind to rest, re mechanical failures on the day. I might also add no two bikes were the same colour. We made our way to Lang Lang, Poowong, and then stopped amidst lovely warm sunshine in Korumburra for coffee. We then set off for Leongatha, Dumbalk, Meeniyan, then stopped at Tarwin Lower for lunch and a chat to the people fishing opposite the pub killing worms. We then made our way to Inverloch then back home   on the Bass highway. Another perfect day’s ride was had by all, pity Peter and I were the only ones there to enjoy it.

Regards Col Gibbons

Sunday 25th May.

A lovely sunny morning bode well for a pleasant Sunday Club ride. With no wind, clear skies, and forecast temperatures up to 19 degrees, conditions were perfect.

After a warming cappuccino, and a last minute consultation with the map; they departed Baxter right on 9-30 am.

Travelling comfortably through Tooradin, Koo Wee Rup, Longwarry and Jindivick, onto Neerim South for a leisurely break, a morning coffee and something to eat.

Then on to Powelltown, Yarra Junction and Warburton and after a short detour up Mt Donna Buang, we arrived at the very popular Reefton Pub for a well earned lunch break.

With tummies satisfied we set off for home travelling through Warburton, Launching Place, to Gembrook for afternoon tea. Puffing Billy pulled into the station laden with Sunday tourists. A relaxing stroll through the Sunday Markets complete with a junk food indulgence of a gourmet Hot Dog, and a refreshing cold drink really put the cap on a great day.

Eventually we headed for home on through Emerald, Upper Beaconsfield, and Berwick; arriving back where it all began in Baxter at 4-30pm.

It had been a great ride and a most enjoyable day for the two members who went!!

Peter Baulch

Sunday 11th May [Mothers day]

''No one wanted to play''

Turning up for the obligatory cup of coffee I was greeted by myself. Any way not to be a person that is easily put off I waited. Had a wonderful conversation with Chris Barton who had come over to do her shopping. At this point I would like to thank Ride leader [myself] also thank Tailend -charlie [myself] also the scribe of the ride report [myself] and finally all who turned up for the ride [myself] .See you all on a ride one day,.....Alan [pres]

Sunday April 20th

Ten of us headed out on what has now become known as the "The Baron's Ride".  Some of us had done it once and some had done it twice and at some time you will have done it too.  Read below for the description of where we went.

Sunday 6th April

One of the impromptu Sunday rides this week was led by THE BARON [Mike Schuett], this is was so great about these rides everyone gets a surprise. About 12 of us headed towards Lang Lang through to Poowong down to Bena, Kooweerup and coffee at Leongatha. Leaving our coffee area proceeded to Meeniyan turn to Dumbalk doing a big loop back to Leongatha ,Kooweerup along the top of Poowong finally arriving at Drouin. All had lunch at the Robin Hood out in the garden great meal good prices to. Leaving this venue we headed to Longwarry and ended up with a coffee at the Tooradin Airport. Tiny's Mystery Ride

Sunday the 9th March dawned cool, fine and clear, with a warm day forecast...  Just great weather for our regular Sunday ride.  Around 8-50 am they started to appear at our departure point in Baxter Central Shopping Centre. By 9-10am it looked like a Honda Club ride as all the ST's, Blackbirds, Deauville's, VT Cruiser and even a CB250 lined up ( ridden by new member Nick Swales - welcome Nick). But then an assorted arrangement of BMW's, Yamaha's, Suzuki's, Kawasaki's, and a Triumph Rocket arrived...... Along with Tiny's trusty Scooter.   (But No Harley's.....??????.....)
After the mandatory group photo and a briefing by Ride Leader Tiny, 16 bikes and 21 riders/pillions, set off at 9-30, through Pearcedale, Five Ways, and on up through Pakenham Upper to our Morning Tea stop at Gembrook.  After refreshments on our way again through the delightful Dandenongs (and enjoying the hills, bends, cooler air and welcome shade along the way).
With the legendary Two-Bays corner marking system working perfectly and a good pace being set by Tiny - confident in her newfound skills in braking and cornering - we arrived in Sassafras for our extended lunch break where there was a huge choice of eating places available to satisfy every dietary fancy.
A short ride after lunch, again taking in the terrific twisty bits that the Dandenong Ranges offer, saw us take another break at the picturesque lookout over Lake Seville  and more group photos.
Eventually we headed for home through Cardinia, Emerald, Upper Beaconsfield, Berwick and on the the BP Servo at Thompsons Rd. Lyndhurst, where the ride concluded, with everyone well satisfied with a great days ride. All of us, including our newer member/riders, were very appreciative of what was a really great fun ride. Tiny is to be congratulated for organising and leading this "Mystery Ride" for TwoBays. We all say, "well done Tiny".

Peter Baulch.

P.S. Autumn in Melbourne always provides us with fine, calm weather.....   Just the stuff for good rides. So to those "not regular" Sunday riders......   Come join us in the fun, fellowship and mateship of riding with your fellow club members

Sunday 24th February

Well, it was a Mystery with the weather all right. I was sorry to have to cancel the ride, but the weather was not good enough to go for a pleasant ride in the hills.
I did go to the coffee shop in Baxter, and only two turned up. Thanks' Rob and Rick for keeping me company.
I did find out, the people in the Bakery are very nice and friendly, and they reckon it is great to have our club there on Wednesday's and Sunday's. So, there you go. I will do my ride very soon and let you know the date.
See you all at Steeples Monday the 3rd of March.
Tiny

Sunday 3rd February

Sunday morning rolled around again so that could only mean one thing -----it's time to play. So off to The Baxter shopping centre to see if any one else can come out to  play. After having a leisurely cup of coffee other members start to arrive namely Peter, Mick, John and Ian. Well where are we going they all enquired ?  that way I said which really didn't give anyone much of an idea. We headed out towards Cardinia veered towards Upper Beaconsfield thru to Emerald for a cuppa. From there we  meandered thru hills and paddocks to Seville [as of yet still only doing one left turn, don't like lefters]. Passing thru Wandin, Launching Place up to Yarra Junction where we turn right. That is a great road to Powelltown and Noojee. Thought we were going guns until we passed by a Ducati as if we were standing still. Didn't actually get to   Noojee as you have to turn left and I haven't mastered that yet. Stopped at Jindivick for more refreshments, wandered down to the freeway where we said our goodbyes .Another great day, great company, and as always it's great to be alive....Alan [pres]

Sunday 20th January

Good Evening, I guess some members have still not caught up with the Sunday Ride scenario, every Sunday there is a ride on somewhere, don't always know where           but we go somewhere.  his is exactly the same as the Wednesday rides .Today we had  4   people turn up, guess what, all committee members.. I realise that we can't always go on every ride every day, but we were asked by members why we don't  have more Sunday rides so we organised them, so to be perfectly frank it's disappointing when we ain't supported.. Having said that the four of us a good ride out around Poowong, Korumburra, Inverloch and Grantville. The weather came good after some threatening skies. One of our group has certainly coming to grips with his new S.T, a far cry from a cruiser, and they go further on a tank of fuel don't they Peter? Well having had my whine I'll calm down and have my dinner, see ya all soon...Alan [pres]

Ride Report by Kevin Guiney.

A short note to let you know of a very enjoyable ride had by all on Sunday the 6th of January.

Six people on 5 bikes turned up at the Baxter Shopping Centre at 9.30 am and had a coffee and chat as to where would be good to ride for                the day. Michael volunteered to lead and we got away about 10.00 am.

Had a great day riding all around the Dandenong ranges, much of which I hadn’t seen before. Morning tea in Sassafras where we met a large      group from the BMW Club, who knew quite a few of our Two Bays Members.

Then more riding until lunch at Monbulk, and finally home by 2.45 pm.

Many thanks to Michael and his daughter as pillion, and Thea, Bob Russell, and Iain for a pleasant ride , also the food wasn’t bad either where         we had morning tea and lunch. This was my first Sunday Ride and I must say it was very enjoyable.

          KEVIN
