Twilight Ride- Report
Sixteen bikes and twenty-four people took
part in the second Twilight ride organised by Peter Baulch.
Assembling at Baxter shopping centre for the obligatory "cuppa"
Peter then advised us of the route we were to take to get to our
destination. Two Bays were joined by some members from
the Mornington Wanderers where upon Peter explained our road
etiquette to every one .On the road again [should be a line in a
song] members wound their way to Lang Lang, Poowong, and Korumburra
where we were by Jack and Malie who late arriving at Baxter.
Stopping at Leongatha most people opted for a 'soft cone' ice-cream
from Macca's. then on to Tarwin Lower for dinner. Arriving at the
Riverside Hotel was an eye opener cos we were there along with all
these "cowboys" and there 'utes' attending what is commonly called a
wait for it.....A Ute muster. Well it turned out that these young
people were doing a food run for the animals of the unfortunate
survivors of the bush fires. Never judge a book by its cover. One
of the 'utes' had reportedly a 1000 L.E.D lights on it must look
like a Christmas tree a night. After dinner it was time to hit the
road again. Now being 'tailend charlie' you are treated to a sight
that no one else sees and that is sixteen bikes of varying sizes and
shapes winding their way along the road and sitting behind a new
Goldwing is like sitting behind 'Battle Star Galactica' if any one
hit one of these things and said "I didn't see it" must be bl!!!y
blind .After a regroup at Corinella and saying our farewells we made
our own way home to bed.
Another great annual event that this
branch partakes in and is one of those times that every one should
try at least once, great ride Peter again well done....Alan Lindley
