I’m back on the computer again, so firstly thank you
Peter for leading the Twilight Ride on Saturday to Tarwin Lower.
What a great turn out there was 27 Bikes, many with pillions, and also a
number of new members.
First stop was Korumburra where the Bakery was kept open just for Two
Bays so that we could have a rest a coffee and a bite to eat.
Thanks Peter for arranging this, it was terrific.
From there it was off to Tarwin lower were we all stopped at the Hotel
for a very nice dinner with good company and friends, the people at the
Hotel were very nice and couldn’t do enough for us and thanked everyone
for coming.
The wind was very strong and blowing us about quite a bit but as Peter
once told me; you have to learn to ride in all conditions, well I agree,
but if I had my way I’d enjoy the ride more without it
but for all of that the ride was great and Betty and I enjoyed it very
much, so we will see you on the next Twilight Ride.
Regards Doug and Betty.
Twilight Ride - Saturday 6th Feb
Our annual Twilight Ride lived up to all expectations of being a ride
that is "not to be missed". Twenty-seven bikes assembled at Baxter with
35 riders and pillions, including Melina, our very friendly and
efficient coffee maker at the Baxter Del-bake Coffee Shop and Bakery.
Melina has become good friends with our Two-Bays members and she jumped
at the invitation to come with us on our annual Twilight ride.
We left Baxter in warm, cloudy and windy conditions, led by ride leader
Baulchy; travelling to Tooradin where we were met by 3 more bikes and
riders, and continued on through the twisty bits of Lang Lang,
Nyora and Poowong, as the clouds broke up allowing the sun through and
the temperature to climb further. A welcome "pit stop" for a drink and a
pee was organised with the Kelly bakery in Korrumburra, who stayed open
just for us. (Well planned Baulchy).
Then we all set off enthusiastically towards Leongatha, and on through
Koonwarra, and eventually at our destination of Tarwin Lower and the
Riverside Hotel, right on schedule at 7-00pm. where we were met by Alan
and Pat Hipworth. Everyone was in great spirits and soon settled into
ordering a meal from the terrific menu and a refreshing drink, or two.
The hotel staff really looked after us with great hospitality in a
friendly country style.
Around 9-00 pm our leader rounded us up for the journey home via
Inverloch - where we all stopped for refuelling of the "cruisers". Then
on we went in nice warm air, and a wind that had dropped a bit in
intensity, through to Wonthaggi, Kilcunda, Grantville, Tooradin and back
to where it all started in Baxter, arriving around 10-45pm. Right on
cue, Melina opened her Coffee Shop for welcome coffee before we all
eventually wandered off home.
Once again, Baulchy's TWILIGHT RIDE proved to be very popular with a
record number of bikes and riders all agreeing that it had been a really
fun night and that it is a MUST on our Ride Calendar in the future.
Note: With the Ride Leader and at least 3 other riders using radios for
2-way communication, once again, rider safety and the efficiency of the
ride was enhanced.
